Fashion on a Budget!

There was a time in Second Life (SL) when i worked as a hostess like it was a real job, 19 sets a week, often back to back. Why? because DJ's would ask me to host them, Sometimes even DJ's I had not even heard of. I loved hosting and found it hard to refuse. But hosting isn't just the 2 hours on stage, well it wasn't for me, it was also about writing original notices, putting the sets in SL events and making sure i looked good on stage too.

I would run and get the latest releases from shops like Blueberry or from shopping events like Uber, only to discover so did every other women in SL and we would all be wearing the same outfits, So I stopped getting new releases, stopped going to designer events.

Eventually all the hours I put into hosting burnt me out, I was exhausted from so much hosting, so I halved the number of sets I did, club managers and DJ's alike tried to talk me out of it, but I had to for my health.

Less sets means less Lindens earnt working, which in turn meant less to spend on clothes.

Then I discovered discount events, where stores put items on sale for a limited period of time, for a fraction of the price. If you have not joined any of the groups, I would encourage you to do so. There are so many, If you don't follow the Seraphim website I would also encourage you to do so (Link is attached to this post)

In the photo above, which is also on my Flickr (Link attached to this post) the only things that were not discounted are:
my body (Maitreya Lara)
my skin ([theskinnery] BoM Body - Slim - Round Bronze)
The [NikotiN]  Holder Cigerette (from the Signature store)
My wedding ring - Ysoral - Luxe wedding ring Sibylle

The outfit is called Marianne Ensamble, in grey, which i purchased from the Fifty Linden Friday's CosyFest 22 event for the staggering amount of L$50!! It cost so little but it oozes sophistication, a job well done by Valentina E. Fifty Linden Friday is an event that weirdly happens every Friday, and like the event name suggests items are L$50.

The bag and cup were from MIDNA and the hair from Studio Exposure Makeup were all in the Happy weekend event where everything is always L$60, The event is amazing, always lots of apparel, furniture, and other bits and pieces you might need to complete your SL experience.

You want to know about my head? Well the fantastic creators of Lelutka gave a fabulous Christmas present to it's group members, so my head cost me a grand total of L$1, that I Paid over a year ago to join the group, L$1 very well spent as I am now the proud owner of 2 Lelutka heads. Before Lelutka I had a Catwa head that I had for a number of years that cost over L$5000.  It is my humble opinion that the Lelutka is so much better.

There are other discount events that are always worth checking out:

The secret weekend sales, that really aren't such a secret
SL Home Décor Weekend Sale

L$35 Linden Sunday
Hello Tuesday
60 special weekly
Wanderlust
Hot weekend sales
7dayssale

And if you are not in the SL Birthday group I really truly Recommend it. Ever heard people talk about the shop and hop? Well if not you NEED to go, and the good news is, the Valentines round has just opened.  Every store has a gift, and pretty much everything has had the full price slashed!!! It's a big event covering over 10 sims, so lots of time is needed, But I bet you will find your Fave store there, often with a group gift of store credit (Addams usually gives $L400 store credit at this event)

Ok so I don't wear the clothes anymore when they are first released, I wait until the are in a sale, and lets face it, who wants to be wearing the same as everybody else for the next week?

Ohh I still host, once a week, at THE BEST country club on the grid, Country strong Reborn (come check us out) But I DJ now, cos you know, I wanted to, and SL is about doing things you want to that you can't do in RL.

Happy bargain Shopping, Shoppers!!!
